The HTC Desire 500 has just gone official and it’s a new 4.3” mid range Android handset that is coming to Western markets by the end of August. The Desire 500 comes with a 4.3” 480 x 800-pixel display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and an 8-megapixel camera supporting highlights reels just like the ones in the HTC One. It also comes with 1GB of RAM and 4 gigs of internal storage, expandable via microSD cards. The handset runs on Android Jelly Bean and supports HTC’s BlinkFeed.

“The Desire range has become renowned for bringing a premium mobile experience to the mass market,” HTC chief executive Peter Chou said. “This particular model, the Desire 500, is no different. It is perfect for people who are always-on-the-go, it enables powerful multitasking and live-streaming of important and interesting information, and it boasts an excellent camera and that bring your important moments to life.”

The handset comes in Lacquer Black and Glacier Blue, and features a cute rounded design, looking a bit like the Pebble-formed Galaxy S III. It’s more compact, though, and easier to use single handedly.

HTC officially unveiled the Desire 500 a few weeks ago, but it was a Taiwan-only version. Now, the international version is coming to Western markets by the end of August.
