The BlackBerry 9720 has just gone official and it brings more memories than current-day specs. The BlackBerry 9720 is a brand new device, but it runs on the dated BlackBerry 7 operating system. In exchange for that shortcoming, it comes at an affordable price and features BlackBerry’s signature full QWERTY keyboard.

The BlackBerry 9720 sports a 2.8-inch 320 x 480 pixel display, 800MHz processor with 512MB RAM, and a 1,450mAh battery with the pretty average 7 hours of talk time. Hey, if that sounds like a two year old phone, you’re not alone. In reality, the 9720 should have a price as low as to compete with other low end devices, so it does not deserve the harsh treatment.

“It’s perfect for customers upgrading from a feature phone or entry-level Android or Windows Phone device,” BlackBerry explains in the official presser. Heck, it’d make a good feature phone replacement too.

The phone has a dedicated BlackBerry Messenger button and BBM Voice plus 3G connectivity as well. The camera is a 5-megapixel one, and the list of bonuses includes an FM Radio station. The app situation might not be perfect, but BlackBerry’s App World is there and there are tens of thousands of apps on it.
