Apple has launched the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s in India, starting at Rs. 41,900 and Rs. 53,500 for the 16GB models, respectively. Both the smartphones were globally unveiled in September this year, and will be available via various large format retail outlets and authorized resellers, apart from via Airtel and Reliance Communications (which has also initiated a free-on-contract scheme) telecom operators.
The Apple iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are available in India starting Friday and will also be available in other countries including Albania, Armenia, Bahrain, Colombia, El Salvador, Guam, Guatemala, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and UAE.
The Apple iPhone 5s is defined as the ‘most forward-thinking iPhone yet’ by the company and features a new A7 chipset which boasts of a 64-bit architecture and also includes a M7 motion co-processor for measuring motion data through various sensor like accelerometer, compass and gyroscope. The iPhone 5s runs iOS 7, the new iteration of Apple OS. It comes in three inbuilt storage variants 16GB, 32GB (Rs. 62,5000) and 64GB (Rs. 71,500) and will be available in three colour variants such as Gold, Silver and Space Grey.
The Apple iPhone 5s comes with a 4-inch display with a resolution of 640×1136 pixels and boasts of a 326ppi pixel density. The iPhone 5s sports an all-new 8-megapixel iSight camera with dual-LED flash, which the company called True Tone flash. The rear camera features an f/2.2 aperture and a 15 percent large image sensor, compared to the iPhone 5. It also houses a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Apple iPhone 5s is the first device in Apple’s portfolio which features the much-awaited fingerprint scanner, which the company calls Touch ID. The Touch ID scanner can be used to unlock the iPhone 5s or even authorize payments on iTunes.
On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 5c features an all-new design, comes in multiple colours (Blue, Green, Pink, White and Yellow) and packs internals almost identical to the iPhone 5. The Apple iPhone 5c features a 4-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with a resolution of 640×1136 pixels and a 326ppi pixel density. It runs iOS 7 and is powered by the Apple A6 chipset, which is also seen on the iPhone 5. The Apple iPhone 5c features a hard-coated polycarbonate body and is a bit thicker and heavier than the iPhone 5.
It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and also includes a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The iPhone 5c will be available in 16GB and 32GB (Rs. 53,500) models.
