Korean sources have posted what they hint will be the lock screen effect, coming with the Galaxy S5 on Monday.
The animation seems to be up and running on a Galaxy S4 handset, and is a departure from Samsung’s current Ripple or Flare lock screen effect choices. Nothing can guarantee this isn’t just a custom animation that has arrived with the KitKat update on the SK Telecom version of the S4, though, or just a sideloaded ROM of sorts.
Still, the S5 is likely to feature a new version of TouchWiz, and a new lock screen might be in tow indeed. There will apparently be new, flatter iconography, similar to the one that arrived with Samsung’s tablet-oriented Magazine UX.
An alleged screenshot from the S5 seemingly confirms the new style, too, and the lock screen effect you see below might be a part of it as well.
